Editing Lesson Blog

Today, I learned how to check out a camera. A form is supposed to be filled out, you get in line, get a camera, and fill out the item number. The item number is the number of the camera, SD Card, and tripod. All cameras must come back the next day. When you are finished you return the form, and return the camera. Each time you need a camera, you repeat the process. In addition to the camera, you must ALWAYS have your student ID. If you do not have it, you can NOT film. Each student will also be given a filming pass. Lastly, you will have an SD Card. Sign your name on the sheet every time you use it. When done, put it back in the box.

Before you can film, you must know how to get the camera to work. To actually turn the camera on, you just open the flap. On the bottom, there are 2 holes: screw and blank space. The screw is put in the hole, and twisted until there is a click. You must tighten all parts so it will not fall. Put the camera on the tripod and start filming. Twisting the camera helps you create your shots, for example a tilt, pan, dutch. Any time you are moving tripod, you must pull the legs back in. Anyone can make a mistake and fall, then something breaks. Make sure that the camera is positioned the way you want it to be.

To edit, you must make a folder. Everything you do on Pinnacle Studios will be put in that folder. Your footage will be in your DCIM. If the footage is not in DCIM, you have to go to private, go to AVCHD, click on the next folder, and go to stream. The stream has everything you filmed. Next, you drag it to the folder, and eject the SD Card. You dump your footage, which is to take the footage from camera to computer, import the footage to pinnacle studios, click on the plus sign, go to the folder, and all the media will pop up. Every time you film, import ALL footage. When editing, the box area is raw footage, meaning untouched. The first track is where the title of the film will go, the second track is the film, and the third track is the sound. To play it, you can press play or the space bar. To zoom in and zoom out, you double click. To delete what you do not want, use razor blade. When you are completely done, export and make sure you save it.
